Ways to Stay Relevant in Marketing

In addition to trust, one thing to make sure you’re doing in your marketing this year is to be relevant. Things change so quickly, new updates are available often, and features are always being introduced! We know, it can be overwhelming and hard to stay relevant! Sometimes, we’d rather just stay with what we’re comfortable with. Maybe you just mastered the latest update and figuring out a new one is daunting. But, really, it’s important to stay relevant. Here’s how to do it.

Be aware of new trends and features
Since there are so many new trends and features and they’re always changing, this might sound a little difficult! What was popular one week might be old news the next! Okay, maybe they don’t change that quickly, but you get the point. Social media is something that’s always getting added to and changing. Know what’s going on so you can participate and make a Facebook Live video or add a fun filter on Instagram! When followers see you’re doing the latest on social media, it shows you’re relevant and are willing to change and update.

Know what others are doing
Whether it’s your competition or just others in general, know what’s going on and what’s popular. This is a simple way to make sure you’re doing what you can to stay up to date. This doesn’t mean you have to do everything they’re doing. But just be aware.

Find out more about your customers
Do they like when you go live so they can interact with you? Do they like to use a certain social media site over the other? Where do they communicate with you the most? If you notice more people interact with your Instagram page, but are more focused on Facebook, you’re missing out! Learn about where your customers are and what they want from you. Don’t get stuck doing the same old thing and hope everyone stays there with you. Customers will change and update no matter what – you should too!

Try new things
This one is important because you never know unless you try! It might not go as well as you hoped, but at least you know! Maybe you tried the survey option on Instagram, but found not many people participated. Sure it’s a bummer, but now you can change your approach and try again or wait a bit and give it a shot later! Or maybe you tried the survey and learned so much about your customers and what they like or don’t like. Wouldn’t you be glad you tried something new?? Be open to new ideas and find what works best for you and your business!

It’s important to stay relevant and the good news is, it doesn’t have to be hard! Take a little time to learn about what’s going on and what the latest “big” thing is. You’ll be aware and customers will like that!
