Stay Healthy During the Holiday Season

It’s the holiday season! A fun, joyful, exciting time! It’s also flu season. Which is not so fun, joyful or exciting. In the next couple weeks we’re going to be around a lot of people and the chance to catch a cold or flu may be higher than normal. And what could be worse than being sick when all you want to do is enjoy eggnog in your Christmas jammies while watching Christmas Vacation?? So, to improve your chances of watching Christmas movies with all your friends and family, there are a few things you can do to stay healthy during this season!

Wash your hands.
So we know this one is obvious, but it’s an important one! It can be easy to catch something. Know what else is easy? Washing your hands when you get back from a Christmas party. Just to be safe.

Drink plenty of water.
There are a lot of drink options during the holidays including hot chocolate, cider, and Christmas cocktails. Which is even more reason to drink plenty of water. Keep a bottle of water next to you during the day and enjoy a more festive drink in the evening. Staying hydrated will help keep us healthy and if you feel like you’re starting to come down with something, fill up on water!

Get some sleep.
Don’t you feel great after a good night’s sleep? But when our evenings are filled with Christmas parties and family get-togethers, we might have some late nights. Unfortunately, lack of sleep can interfere with a healthy immune system. This season, make sure you’re enjoying some silent nights and get a good night’s sleep!

Listen to your body.
The holiday season is crazy busy and sometimes it seems like we’ll never make it to December 26th. But don’t we somehow always push through, go to all of the events, exchange gifts, and enjoy some family time? If you’re not feeling well during the holiday season this year, listen to your body and rest. Don’t go to that party or turn down the invite to watch movies with friends. They’ll understand and appreciate that you aren’t passing your sickness onto them! The best thing you can do when you’re sick is to rest and take the time to get better.

We hope you have a happy, healthy holiday season!
