National Clean Off Your Desk Day

It’s National Clean Off Your Desk Day! They really do have a day for everything don’t they? Well, we wouldn’t say our desks are too messy, but a reminder to get a little more organized never hurt anyone! Plus, if there are benefits to having a clean desk, then we really don’t mind a reminder. Wanna know a few of those benefits?

Less stressful
A major mess can cause you to feel stressed just by looking at it! Whether it’s your desk or your home, I think it’s safe to say when we have a clean space, we just feel better. Or is that just us…? Having an organized work space will allow you to focus on your work and not on the giant stack of papers sitting there.

Efficiency
Not only is a mess not great to look at, but if you can’t find something you’re looking for in the piles of notebooks and papers, you’re only slowing yourself down! A messy desk can be distracting and in your busy day, you don’t need any more distractions. Plus, when you see your desk all neat and organized, you’ll probably be more eager to get to work!

Stay healthy
We spend a lot of time at our desks. Sometimes they’re our tables during lunch break. Maybe we have several people sitting around them for a meeting. Oftentimes, there’s a lot more that goes on at a desk than just typing at your computer. If you make sure to clean it off once in a while, especially after you’re sick, you can keep yourself (and all of your visitors) healthy!

Impress your coworkers
Okay, so this one might not be necessary. We’re sure they’re already impressed with you! But if they walk to your desk and it’s clean, they’ll be even more impressed. A clean desk will make you look productive and organized instead of sloppy and cluttered.

We’re not saying your desk should always be spotless. You can still be productive and have a little clutter! But if you are feeling buried in the items on your desk and you waste precious minutes of your day searching, then take advantage of National Clean Off Your Desk Day and get organized! Now excuse us. We have some cleaning to do.
