How to Stand Out on Social Media

Have you ever scrolled through your Facebook newsfeed only to realize that’s just what you’re doing – scrolling? You’re not reading or stopping to look at posts. It’s a blur of general photos that all look the same, some content that isn’t interesting, and ads that seem to show up too often.

While social media is a great tool and something every business should be using, it can also be easy to get lost in a newsfeed. But the good news is, it can also be easy to stand out! If you feel like your posts aren’t being seen, there are a few things you can do to stand out and attract attention!

Include good visuals
This one might seem obvious, but how many photos have you not stopped to look at? When you post, choose a picture you would like to see. Not one you’ve used many times before or is another stock image of people no one knows. Videos are a great visual to use because they often get a lot of views. Video is so popular and if you’re not using it, it’s something you definitely should consider! It’s fun to see what a business is up to instead of always reading about it.

Another thing to keep in mind with visuals is to make sure they’re high quality. A grainy picture or video will immediately get skipped and might give people the wrong idea about your brand and who you are as a business.

Create strong content
Ahh, caption writing. It’s harder than it sounds! You want it to be fun and personal, but also say everything about the product/service you’re showing. If it gets frustrating and you feel like rattling off information to get it over with, (been there!) slow down and remember to keep it light and conversational. You want it to seem like you’re interacting with your customers – not talking at them.

Help your followers
Your followers follow you for a reason. They like what you offer and, after all, you are the expert. So help them out! Offer useful information relating to what you sell. Teach them the different ways to use your product or just share something cool they might not know!

Be personal
We know, it can be hard to respond to each comment or message, especially if you have a large following. But when you respond to someone, you’ll definitely stand out! Remind them you’re not just someone behind a computer screen pumping out social media posts.

It’s also a good idea to show some personality in your posts! Again, you want your followers to know there’s a person connected to the page and not just someone scheduling posts and not looking at it ever again. Have some fun with your posting when possible. Include fun facts and let them get to know you as a person and not just a business!

All of this is easier said than done right? If you feel like you want to try to stand out more on social, but just don’t have the time or resources to do it right now, let us know! We’d love to learn more about you and your business and create posts that will stand out in a newsfeed!
