How to Celebrate National Day of Encouragement

We know there are a lot of holidays out there. Just Google any date and there will probably be some sort of National Something Day. And honestly, some are pretty silly right? Today is National TV Dinner Day after all… But we actually like to celebrate some of these unique holidays! Like National Day of Encouragement on September 12th.

So what better way to celebrate than by encouraging your coworkers all day?! Sometimes, the stress of a job can be discouraging and a pick-me-up is just what we need. Plus, an article from Forbes says that encouraging those you work with can actually decrease your stress- talk about a win win!

There are so many ways you can offer encouragement to those around you, but if you need some ideas, we have a few!

Write an encouraging note.

If you notice a coworker who seems like they aren’t having a good day, is stressed, or you can just tell they’re ready for 5 o’clock, write them a little note and leave it on their desk. You could even send them a quick email. Have you ever received one of those notes? Then you know it can immediately change your mood. It’s something super simple and can improve someone’s day!

Give positive feedback.

We all have those weeks when we’re into a routine, everyone is firing on all cylinders and we never stop and think about the great, hard work being done! Trust us, we love when this happens. It’s great to know everyone is doing well, getting stuff done, and having a productive week! But take time to slow down (just a little bit) and tell somehow how great they did on a presentation or project.

Of course, you can do this during a bad, slow week too. We all have those too, right? If it’s been a rough week, find something specific that someone did well and let them know!

Plan an encouraging surprise!

Surprising a coworker with something doesn’t have to be big. Grab them a cup of coffee on your way back from the break room, offer to buy them lunch, or ask if they want to go on a walk during your break. They’ll appreciate the fact that you’re thinking of them, no matter what the gesture is!

So, what will you do on Thursday to celebrate National Day of Encouragement? We hope you’re able to brighten someone’s day, and receive some love, too!

If you gave encouragement or were encouraged by someone else, we’d love to hear about it! Follow us on Facebook and let us know!
