2018’s Most Memorable Marketing Moments

Can you believe 2018 is almost over?? In just 2 weeks, it’ll be 2019 and we’ll start all over. New goals, new plans, and new campaigns. But, there is a little bit left of this year so we thought we’d take a look at a few notable marketing campaigns that happened in 2018.

Dunkin’ Donuts
In September, Dunkin’ Donuts made the announcement they’re going to rebrand and drop the word Donuts from their name. The major rebrand will include a new store design, new drinks, and kiosks where you can place orders. Dunkin’ Donuts has become a well known name and you can probably picture their orange and pink colors without having to think too hard about it. Of course, some people don’t like change and not everyone loved the idea of a new name for the donut store. But sometimes brands evolve and a rebrand might just be the thing to do! The store will officially become Dunkin’ in January, but don’t worry – they’ll still have donuts!

IHOP
Remember when IHOP changed their name to IHOb because they started serving burgers? Were you like a lot of people and thought it was a little strange? Or maybe you thought it was clever? Either way, the restaurant decided they needed to do something big to make their announcement. Not everyone was thrilled about it and other restaurants had a lot of fun sharing their thoughts on the name change. But it did create a lot of conversation and IHOP said it saw a “significant lift” in sales and traffic. Were you one of those people who visited IHOP to check out their new burgers?

Dominoes
Dominoes might have had one of the best marketing campaigns with their “Paving for Pizza” initiative. To make the roads better for their pizza deliveries (and to make a lot of people happy) Dominoes filled in potholes in cities across the United States. They recognized a need for better roads and made it fun! Sure, marketing is about getting business for your company and making sales, but when you can make a difference for people? Even better!

There was a lot of great (or not so great) stuff that happened this year, but these are just a few. We hope you had successful marketing campaigns in 2018 and if not, a new year is a great time to start fresh! Learn from companies like Dunkin’, IHOP, and Dominoes and do what works best for you!
