THANK YOU to our sponsor HOTWORX, Sioux City!

The conversation of women and body image has long been and still is a topic that most women feel uncomfortable. Most young girls were taught that beauty and good behavior go together and to be a “good girl”.

As a new generation of mothers, we are learning better ways to talk to our daughters in a way to empower them about their bodies instead of feel shame for not looking a certain way and how it ties into mental and physical health. In this episode we break down the expectations for how women should look, act or be a certain way and how your physical health is strongly tied to our mental health. Together Peggy and I both walk you through our individual journey’s of body image and how we learned to overcome what people told us that we believed and how Peggy found strength in body building at her weakest moment.

In this episode, we discuss…

  1. [5:49] why her passion for fitness was rooted.
  2. [10:40] when she was first told she had thunder thighs by someone close to her.
  3. [14:44] how you can’t outrun a bad diet and what you’re fueling your body with matters.
  4. [19:54] using food as a means of control. “The most important thing thing you can do is serve yourself.”
  5. [25:40] Peggy breaks her leg and feels weak/broken for the first time.
  6. [36:00] how bodybuilding impacted her and her family. Her husband and kids watched her set a big goal and follow through.
  7. [39:20] the hardest part is mental and getting started. Her advice, give it another 20 seconds.
  8. [45:47] confidence to never quit, you can do it! “What other people say about you doesn’t matter.”
  9. [53:15] her lessons learned from her body building experience.
