3 Ways to Get Up and Move During Your Workday!

Exercise. It can be a love-hate relationship right? No matter how we feel about it, we all know it’s important. And with all of us spending more time at home while gyms are closed, it can be harder to get creative. Allow me to share the ultimate guide (from our good friends at Groom and Style) for the no-gym workout methods to get you into peak shape.

I mean, kudos to you if you block out time before or after your busy work day to get your workout in! But right now, some of us are working from home in, what I will call a more laxed environment. For some of us it’s not easy, cause now we have alllll the time. But the great news is, there are still ways to build working out into your day whether you are still at home or going to the office, Here are a few more ideas!

Ride your bike to work.

While this may not be possible for everyone, it could be a great start to your day and an easy way to work out! If you can’t ride your bike, perhaps you can park farther away or the classic, take the stairs!

Take walks.

It seems like walking or working out during your lunch break is the obvious one, but you can sneak in walks a lot throughout your day! Walk around your office while one the phone. If it doesn’t cause too much interruption, you can walk to a coworker instead of emailing them. Park your car farther away to get a few extra steps in before and after work. Take the long way when refilling your coffee. While some of these don’t save time, it can be beneficial in the long run when you’re feeling more productive.

Work out at your desk.

While sitting, flexing your abs and lifting and lowering your legs are simple exercises you can do without having to stop what you’re working on. Standing at your desk has also become more common. You may get some looks, but taking some time to stretch could rejuvenate you for the afternoon!

Encourage your coworkers to join. It’s always easier to do something with an accountability partner!

Living a healthy lifestyle is not only beneficial to you, but to your company too. Healthy employees are less likely to get sick, injure themselves at work or become as stressed. Having a healthy office will also help your culture as fitness improves energy and productivity. Job performance improves by 25% if employees eat healthy and by 15% if they exercise at least 30 minutes 3 times a week. Stats like that are enough to get us moving!

Well, it’s time to lace up my tennis shoes and go for a run. I hope you will too!
