5 Ways to Enjoy Summer While at Work

Summer officially starts this week and we can’t wait! We love all things summer – the hot days, warm nights, outdoor activities, and weekends spent by the water! But we also like to take advantage of the beautiful season even during the day while at work. Sure, our days can get crazy busy and we don’t even have time to think about the sunny weather outside. But even during those busy days, there are some ways to enjoy the season while working at a desk from 9-5.

Take your lunch break outside.
We get it. Not everyone loves to walk outside and be in a hot temperature. But if you love some sunshine, eat your lunch outside! Not only is it a great way to spend time in the warm weather during the day, but it’s a nice way to get away from your desk for a little bit. Go to a park, take advantage of your company’s outdoor seating, or go downtown. An hour outside is a great way to spend some time during your day!

Take short walks
If you get breaks during the day, take a short walk outside. Again, if you don’t like the warm weather, this probably isn’t for you. But, if you do, spend your breaks outdoors and get some vitamin D! You might not be able to do a whole lot during a short break, but a little sunshine can boost your mood and help you tackle the rest of the day!

Bring summer inside
Just because you can’t always be outside in the summer weather during working hours, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy anything summer related! Do you have a favorite drink or snack you always have during the season? Maybe it’s a frozen treat or fruity water. Bring it to work with you! If you love summer because of the green trees and blooming flowers, grab a plant or get some fresh flowers and set them on your desk! Make your space feel summery!

Come in earlier, leave earlier
Depending on what you do, this might not be possible. But if you can, come in to work a little earlier so you can leave earlier and spend some more of the day outside or doing something you love! Yes, just because it’s summertime doesn’t mean we can slack off or not work, but there are a lot of things going on, so if you have the chance to attend your kids afternoon soccer game or head to the lake, you should do it! Again, only if it’s possible, of course.

Go on vacation
If you’re not already planning a summer vacation, what are you waiting for? If you have kids on summer break, it’s the perfect time to go. Even if you don’t have kids, a vacation is usually a good idea. 🙂 It’s important to take a break from your hectic schedule once in a while and relax and recharge. You’ll go back to work feeling ready to take on your projects and you’ll definitely feel like you did something exciting this summer!

So, don’t be too bummed if the day is nice and you’re stuck inside! There are plenty of ways to appreciate this gorgeous season!
